Tuskiji Market, Tokyo Japan
For many years I would take my Japanese language students from Port Angeles, Washington to visit Japan for a couple weeks as part of a Sister City relationship with Mutsu, Japan. As part of our trips we always visited Tsukiji Market in Tokyo to see the world’s largets fish market and Tuna auction.

Tuskiji Market is not only the site of the most famous fish auction in the world, it is the site of the largest fish market as well. Every year there are new species to scienc discovered in the countless stalls in the sprawling market. When visiting it is easy to see how our fishing practices are not sustainable and we are drastically over exploiting the marine resources of the planet. The below images are of the various fish and invertebrates I have seen during the many visits I have made to this market over the years.
